About the Workshops
Codependence affects many people. That's because it is often difficult to see or understand. When we have attempted to adapt to imbalanced relationships, we can feel worn out, depressed and isolated. What's worse, often we believe that all our efforts to make our relationships work are "good" and "Christian" - causing us to be deceived. Therefore, we can find ourselves frustrated by the internal disconnect and pain we experience when we honestly feel we have done our best.
While the term "codependence" was originally used to describe the significant person of an alcoholic or addict, our approach to codependence is much more far reaching. While that dynamic can sometimes be the most intense, in truth, codependence is composed of an unhealthy system of loving and relating to others. It shows up mostly in a counterfeit version of love where we have misplaced our need for intimacy with God with our human relationships.
This workshop process seeks to identify roots and show us what God intended for our lives and relationships. We will "diagnose" how codependence can contaminte our lives, and learn how to release it properly through a spiritual remedy. By ridding toxic shame, learning to forgive, embracing our authentic identity and forming healthy boundaries, we can begin to live the life God intended for us.
But because the patterns have been deeply imbedded in us, this is something that takes time and work to achieve. The all new codependent workshop is a two-tier extended program that will address the process in steps. Beginning with the "The Christian Codependence Recovery Workbook: From Surviving to Significance" we will look to identify and face codependence, and identify the unhealthy belief systems we have acquired about God, ourselves and others. From there we will move into another workbook that will prepare us for a deeper understanding of God's love, and how He intended we could love others. We will deal with attachment styles, intimacy, bonding and the repair of those relationship that have been fractured and damaged. In addition to dealing with the emotional and spiritual roots, we will also look at self-care and how to learn to apply some practical and healthy principles into our lives.
Who is a good match?
If you are interested in truly getting to the root issues of codependence in a Christ-centered envirnoment, this workshop will be a great match. It will not cover a suface level, nor emphasize freedom by "independence, " rather it is entirely based on the truth of God's Word and our need to know Him intimately. This approach will in fact ask us to filter ourselves and our relationships through God's perspective. While our Creator loves us and has a plan and future for us, we have to prepare ourselves for the willingness to surrender and release ourselves to Him.
